Opportunities beyond the establishment

It was in summer 2010 when a group of young people entered a residential house that was left to decay. They decided to turn it into a place where those who seek a roof over their head can have it for free, a place for free information and cultural events, open discussions and people’s kitchen. – Today La B.A.S.E. is a squat in the north of Bordeaux that has contributed a lot to the cultural diversity in its city. A community threatened by a legislation

In the community of “La ferme des sots” in Aquitaine day-to-day life is going on in the middle of a quiet clearing, but in the evening when they gather around a fireplace to share their wine, the inhabitants are considerately talking about politics in their home country. In 2009 a revised version of a law on interior security affairs made by the governing right wing and central-right wing party UMP came into force. The existence of numerous eco-villages and communes hidden in the vast and beautiful countryside of France is endangered. Continue reading
